RARA Issue 3 (digital)

$10.00

RARA is a biannual magazine, but it has been created to keep and return to year after year. In it you will not find sneaky sponsored content or fast fashion ads. You will not find fad diets or profiles of only slim white women. You will find poignant opinion pieces and profiles of amazing activists. This magazine dares to be different in a world of publications that are designed to oppress readers into aligning with stereotypes and stigmas. We hope that RARA will empower through education in both creative and critical spheres.

In this edition:

  • Batkhishig Oyundelger provides a personal reflection about finding a balance between identity and motherhood;

  • Jessica Rainier-Pope writes about learning to live a life unfiltered;

  • Bridget Gibbs delves into an expose on the white, cis, male boys club of the beer brewing industry;

  • Sarah Davies & Nicola Faulkner mull about the power of perspective;

  • Angharad Neal-Williams provides you with some feminist cartoons and colour-ins;

  • Miranda Park interviews musician Emma Volard on femininity and change in the music industry;

  • The Scarlet Alliance provide details on why the decriminalisation of sex work is such an urgent campaign;

  • Constance Allan unpacks society’s concept of the ‘womanly’ body;

  • Anna Holmes provides some advice for the overworked and underpaid (myself included!);

  • We learn about the power of the Peacecard Project;

  • Ishara Sahama explores the settler-colonial legacy of our non-intersectional cities;

  • Athena Bellas and Josephine Paone have your weekly meals sorted in our recipe section;

  • We have a tonne of book reviews, and even a review of exactly what toilet paper to purchase in 2021 (peak COVID-19-vibes); and

  • There is our regular poetry and tarot cards!

** After purchase, you will be sent a downloadable zip folder containing RARA in PDF format (113 mb) to the email address you provide. When the folder has downloaded, you will need to right click > extract all to access the files.
